The rise in disposable income among the working class population, time-pressured lifestyles and increasing urbanisation have all contributed to decent growth of the Indian soup industry. The soup market in the country is largely organised, with a few top-ranked brands commanding the major share. While sale of dehydrated soups is the highest, it is closely followed by the canned soup category. Instant and frozen soups are yet to gain any significant market share in the country. Tomato, sweet corn, vegetable and chicken are some of the dominant flavours of soups available here. Proper pricing policies and the introduction of new product categories such as healthy soups should ensure continued expansion of the soup industry in future.
