The bottled water industry has grown at a fast pace in recent years. The unavailability of portable drinking water at major transit points such as bus and railway stations, airports as well as tourist destinations has led to increased popularity of bottled water products, which has, in turn, strengthened the bottling and distribution network. The general shortage of water and the recent trend of health awareness within the country have together boosted the prospects of the domestic bottled water industry. While the major part of the industry is comprised of unorganised players, a significant portion of branded bottled water products are also sold in India.
